Re: Man Vs. Wild In that "grizzly" episode Grylls runs from his shelter through the forest in the dark of night ( with his entire camera crew in tow no less) to supposedly escape from a real bear, maybe a grizzly that was stalking his camp. Now without getting into how absurd it would be to "run" from a grizzly as a "survival" technique there are a couple of other things that really make his show crap. In the same episode, as he's running throught the woods in the dark, he pauses to reflect on his special forces training about "night vision" and getting adjusted to seeing in the dark. he explains that he can see fairly well after about 20 minutes because his eyes have adjusted AS THE WOODS AROUND HIM ARE BLEACHED IN THE LIGHT FROM HIS CAMERA CREW! Later in the same episode he nearly weeps as he admits that the hardest part for him is dealing with the "solitude". He opines how tough is is to have nobody with him to provide encouragement to carry on WHILE HE'S SURROUNDED BY HIS ENTIRE CAMERA CREW!
The Outback episode: If I'm not mistaken, correct me if I am. In the original, not newly edited version, he catches a snake which he places around his neck to be eaten "later". he eventually climbs up to a ledge overlooking a river where he kills, cooks, and eats the snake.
Now, in the (I guess) newly edited version of the same episode he is seen beginning to climb up to the ledge overlooking the river with the snake as his voice narrarates, and I paraphrase " in the Outback only indigenous people are alowed to kill animals so this snake will be let go ". You never see him let the snake go ( which would be quite the trick seeing how he ate the thing ). What gives ? Did Bear get caught breaking Aussie law?
I have other problems with the show, but I've rambled on long enough.
Am I alone in seeing this crap? |
